More on Metro / Bus tickets

Several types of tickets are available for the usage of the metro ("Metro Bilbao"). From these tickets, the pre-payed multi-travel ticket is also valid, among others, for the bus or the "funicular". If you plan to travel in group (several people can use the same ticket - just validate it numerous times) and/or plan to travel regularly, a pre-payed multi-travel ticket is highly recommended (see below).

If using the metro, a ticket needs to be validated when entering and leaving the metro station. If using the bus, a ticket needs to be validated when entering the bus.

Tickets can be bought either in the metro station or at other places, depending on the type of ticket, as detailed further. Price depends on how many zones are to be covered.

Here below the various ticket options are listed, with the definition of zones available at Metro Bilbao:

1. one-trip ticket ("Ocasional")
   

2. - valid for one trip
   

3. - valid for Metro Bilbao
   

4. - maximal travel time is 2 hours
   

5. - not name-bound, i.e., transferable to other persons

1. pre-payed multi-travel ticket ("Creditrans")
   

2. -each trip has a maximum travel-time validity of 2 hours
   

3. -valid for Metro Bilbao, Bilbobus, Bizkaibus, Funicular de Artxanda, Puente Colgante, Tranvía de Bilbao, Línea Bilbao (Deusto) Lezama de Esukotren, Etxebarri bus, Sopelbus, Ascensor de La Salve y Ereaga, Feve, Funicular de Larreineta
   

4. -not name-bound, i.e., transferable to other persons 
   

5. -several persons of a same group can make usage of the same multi-travel ticket, validating the number of trips according to the number of persons from the same group. When traveling in group, each person of the group is required to start and finalize the trip at the same metro station, i.e., one can not leave the metro station without the group.
   

6. -pre-payed tickets of 5, 10, or 15 Euros can be bought
   

7. -price per trip and per person: 1 zone-ticket 0.78 Euro
